As a licensed cosmetologist with over 13 years behind the chair, I’ve had the honor of serving hundreds of beautiful Black women. And time after time, I saw the same thing:
We had been miseducated about how to care for our hair.
We were raised to believe that oiling our scalp meant we were “taking care of it.” But what I’ve learned — and what I now teach every client who sits in my chair — is that moisture doesn’t start with oil. Moisture starts at the shampoo bowl.
